Katy Bowen-Roberts ~ Producer & Director
Raised on Vancouver island, Katy has established herself as a producer, director and performer both in Canada and in Europe. She established 'Razzle Dazzle Productions' in 2007. Current projects and event planning include creator, producer & director of the 13th annual Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular, producer of A Night of White for non-profit society VIMSS, and producer & artistic vision for a newly commissioned work in Nanaimo called Blackstones & Bathtubs: A Musical Revue of the Town You Never Knew to be premiered in July 2017.
Katy trained at the University of British Columbia where she achieved a BMUS completing courses in directing and performing. Performance credits include Musetta in La Boheme (Czech Republic), Lauretta in Gianni Schicci (London, UK), Serpetta in Die Gartnerin Aus Liebe (Germany), Anna in The King and I (Port Theatre, Nanaimo), Yum Yum in The Mikado (Port Theatre, Nanaimo), Nancy in Oliver, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar and most recently she was seen playing Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady at the Port Theatre . In September 2008 Katy produced two of the Port Theatre’s 10-year anniversary celebration shows and following that, she was the ‘Programming Coordinator and Host’ for the 2009/2010 Random Acts Series at the Port Theatre. Katy is a private voice teacher and she taught for several years at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music where she also established the NCM Musical Theatre program. She teachers private voice, piano and Musical Theatre at her in-home studio in the Comox Valley.
Through the creation and production of the Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular, Katy is able to provide contractual employment for over 20 professional singers, dancers, musicians, director, lighting and sound designer, choreographer and music composer and arranger annually.
